Sprint kicks off Super Bowl XLIII mobile coverage

The countdown is on to Super Bowl XLIII–with the Pittsburgh Steelers squaring off against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Feb. 1. Sprint announced a series of mobile content exclusives offered via the operator’s exclusive NFL Mobile Live application. Sprint will introduce a centralized Super Bowl XLII webpage formatted expressly for mobile handsets–the site will feature season recaps for both the Steelers and the Cards, rosters and statistics, and in-depth analysis and opinion from NFL Network personalities Adam Schefter and Rich Eisen, including keys to the game and interactive polls. A live stream of the NFL Network’s cable broadcast will all the official Super Bowl XLIII press conferences along with player and coach interviews as well as breaking news.

The Sprint site will additionally offer video highlights of previous Super Bowls alongside a travel guide to Super Bowl XLIII host city Tampa, including information on local events and attractions and a Zagat restaurant guide for the area.

According to Sprint, the NFL Mobile Live application reached the 1 million download milestone faster than any other application in the carrier’s history. Sprint adds that NFL Mobile Live app also set its single-day record for downloads Sept. 7, the first Sunday of this year’s NFL campaign. In November, Sprint became the first U.S. mobile operator to offer live NFL game telecasts when it began simulcasting the NFL Network’s annual eight-game primetime schedule.
